Members of the Rail and Maritime Transport Union (RMTU) working at the port of Timaru this afternoon withdrew the seven strike notices that had been issued for the days of December 16 to 22 inclusive.
South Island RMTU organizer John Kerr said employers filed offers in mediation last Friday, which members discussed today. Members voted to withdraw the strike notice and to settle with Prime Port Ltd and Quality Marshalling
“The RMTU has secured offers that will maintain the purchasing power of members at a time of relatively high inflation, which is a very positive outcome from our perspective. “
