(Greetings in local language)
Governor of Andhra Pradesh Shri Biswabhusan ji, Chief Minister Shri Jagan Mohan Reddy ji, my cabinet colleague Ashwini Vaishnaw ji, other dignitaries present here and my brothers and sisters from Andhra Pradesh!
Just a few months ago, I had the privilege of attending Viplava Veerudu Alluri Sitaramaraju ji’s 125th birthday program with all of you. Today, once again, I came to the land of Andhra on such an occasion which is a very important day for Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam. Visakhapatnam is a very special city in India. There has always been a rich trading tradition here. Visakhapatnam was an important port in ancient India. Through this port, trade was carried out even thousands of years ago and with regions as far as Western Asia and Rome. And even today, Visakhapatnam remains the focal point of Indian trade.
Launching and laying the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 10,000 crore will become a way to meet the aspirations of Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam. These programs will not only open up many new dimensions such as India’s infrastructure, ease of living and independence, but will also take development to new heights. I send my sincere congratulations to all the people of Andhra Pradesh for the same. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the former Vice President of our country, Shri Venkaiah Naidu Garu, as well as Shri Hari Babu. Every time we meet, we talk a lot about the development of Andhra. Their love and dedication to Andhra is unparalleled.
The people of Andhra Pradesh have a very special quality. They are very affectionate and hardworking by nature. Today, in almost every corner of the world, the people of Andhra Pradesh showcase their talent in all fields. Be it education or business, technology or medical profession, the people of Andhra Pradesh have forged a distinct identity in every field. This identity was created not only because of their professional quality but also because of their friendly nature. The cheerful and lively personality of the people of Andhra Pradesh makes everyone their fan. Telugu speakers are always in pursuit of excellence. They always strive to do better. I am happy that the development projects that have been inaugurated or the foundation stones laid today will also further enhance the pace of progress in Andhra Pradesh.
In the ‘Azadi Ka AmritKaal’, the country is moving rapidly along the path of development with the goal of a developed India. This development path is multifaceted. This includes our concern for the life-related needs of ordinary citizens. This also includes the development of the best modern infrastructure. Our vision for infrastructure is also clearly visible in today’s program. Our vision is to ensure inclusive development and inclusive growth. In terms of infrastructure, we have never wasted our time on questions such as: should rail or road be developed? Should we concentrate on the ports or on the motorways? The country has suffered greatly from this isolated vision of infrastructure. This had affected the supply chain and increased logistics costs.
Supply chain and logistics depend on multimodal connectivity. That is why we have adopted a new approach to infrastructure development. We have focused our attention on the integrated vision of development. The economic corridor, the foundation stone of which was laid today, provides for a 6-lane road. A separate road will also be built to reach the port. On the one hand, we are beautifying the Visakhapatnam railway station and, on the other hand, we are developing a state-of-the-art fishing port.
This integrated vision of infrastructure was possible thanks to the national master plan PM Gati Shakti. The Gati Shakti plan not only accelerated the pace of infrastructure development, but also reduced the cost of projects. Multimodal transport system is the future of every city and Visakhapatnam has taken a step in this direction. I know that the people of Andhra have been waiting for these projects for a long time. And now, as the wait draws to a close, Andhra Pradesh and its coastal regions will move forward in this race for development with renewed momentum.
Today, the whole world is going through a new era of challenges. There is a shortage of essential goods in some countries, while some countries are facing an energy crisis. Almost all countries are concerned about declining economic growth. But amidst it all, India is scaling great heights in a myriad of areas. India is writing a new development saga. As you experience it, the whole world is taking keen note of it.
You must watch how the pundits and intellectuals praise India. Today, India has become the focal point of expectations around the world. This was possible because today India works keeping the expectations and needs of its citizens paramount. Every policy and every decision we make has the sole purpose of improving the lives of the common man. Today, investments in India are increasing due to policies like PLI, GST, IBC, National Infrastructure Pipeline and Gati Shakti. At the same time, programs set up for the welfare of the poor are also constantly expanding.
In this development journey, today, these regions of the country are also included, which were previously marginalized. Even in the most backward districts, development-related programs are being implemented under the Ambitious Districts Program. Millions of poor people in the country have been receiving free food grains for two and a half years. For three and a half years, Rs 6,000 each has been flowing directly into farmers’ accounts every year through Prime Minister Kisan Yojana. Likewise, thanks to our policies related to emerging sectors, new opportunities are created for young people. From drones to games, from space to start-ups, every sector has the opportunity to move forward thanks to our policies.
When the goals are clear, whether it’s the heights of the sky or the depths of the ocean, we look for opportunities and trim them. For example, deep water energy will be extracted through modern technology in Andhra. Today, the country is also making tremendous efforts to realize the endless possibilities associated with the blue economy. The blue economy has become a major priority for the country for the first time.
Now, facilities such as Kisan credit cards are also available for anglers. Today, the modernization works of the Visakhapatnam fishing port have started. This will make life easier for our fishermen. As the power of the poor increases and they gain access to the opportunities associated with modern infrastructure, our dream of a developed India will also come true.
The sea has been a source of wealth and prosperity for India for centuries, and our coasts have served as the gateway to that prosperity. Today, projects worth thousands of crores of rupees are underway in the country for port-led development. They will expand further in the future. Today India in the 21st century is implementing the idea of holistic development. I am sure that Andhra Pradesh will continue to play a crucial role in this development drive for the country.
With this determination, once again thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you!
Raise both your hands and say out loud with me –
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!
Bharat Mata Ki Jai!
Thanks a lot !
