Sensex earns 874 points, Nifty finishes at 17,392; check the best winners and losers here

Investor sentiment has been positive following the International Monetary Fund’s projections of a high growth rate for India in the latest World Economic Outlook

Buying across all sectors helped the national benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 end on a positive note for the second consecutive session today, April 21. While Sensex jumped 1.53% to 57,911.68, Nifty finished 256 points at 17,392.60.

Investor sentiment was also positive regarding the International Monetary Fund’s high growth rate for India, which was projected in the latest World Economic Outlook.

The BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices rose more than 1.20%. India’s VIX fell 4.39% to 17.85 levels. Excluding media, all sector indices ended up.

Bombay Stock Exchange (ESB):

BSE Sensex jumped 1.53% or 874.18 points to 57,911.68. Top winners were Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Financial Services, Asian Paints and Reliance. The only underperformers were Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel and Nestle India.

Top BSE Winners:

Mahindra & Mahindra: Shares climbed 3.50% to Rs 911.35.
Maruti Suzuki: The stock jumped to Rs 7,875.85, up 2.70%.
Bajaj Financial Services: Enterprise value increased by 2.46% to Rs 15,890.00.
Asian Paintings: The shares gained 3,156.70 rupees, with an increase of 2.38%.
Dependency: The stock ended the day up 2.35% at Rs 2,782.15.

Main losers from BSE:

Tata Steel: Enterprise value fell to Rs 1,302.20, down 0.88%.
Bharti Airtel: The stock fell 0.63% to Rs 734.75.
Nestle India: Shares fell 0.60% to Rs 18,203.90.

National Stock Exchange (NSE):

NSE Nifty 50 closed the day at 17,392.60, up 1.49% or 256.05 points. Bank Nifty ended up 1.38% at 36,816.10.

Top NSE winners:

Eicher Motors: The stock climbed 4.36% to Rs 2,647.35.
Coal India: With a gain of 3.99%, shares jumped to Rs 207.05.
Mahindra & Mahindra: Enterprise value increased by 3.15% to Rs 909.00.
Adani Ports: Shares ended the day up 2.70% at Rs 850.00.
Kotak Bank: The stock closed the session at Rs 1,767.55, up 2.69%.

Main ESN losers:

Cipla: The stock fell 1.19% to Rs 1,000.00.
Hindalco: Shares fell 0.75% to Rs 540.90.
ONGC: With a loss of 0.63%, the shares slipped to Rs 174.40.
Bajaj Auto: Enterprise value stood at Rs 3,700.00, down 0.56%.
Tata Steel: Share value closed down 0.55% at Rs 1,307.00.
