Mangaluru: BJP’s Dakshina Kannada district unit is ready to bring in one lakh party workers for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event to be held at Goldfinch City ground at 1:15 p.m. on September 2, 2022. Preparations are underway for the erection of a mega stage and pandals using German technology. The workers worked day and night on the stage, pandals and other arrangements at the earliest. All arrangements had to be made by today, August 31, in accordance with security measures, but due to the rains, the works were delayed.
According to the current tentative schedule, PM Modi will arrive at Mangaluru International Airport at 1:00 p.m. Later, he will use a helicopter to reach the premises of the new Mangaluru Port Authority (NMPA) in Panambur. The Prime Minister will later arrive at the program venue (Chardonneret Town Grounds) by road at 1:15 p.m., and the official program will continue until 3:00 p.m. As rains have been forecast by the meteorological service on September 2, these special pandals and a special flooring will be used to combat the rain and groundwater.
BJP District Chairman Sudarshan Moodbidri at a press briefing said, “Since the BJP is in power in Central and Karnataka, the party will ensure the active participation of workers in the Prime Minister’s agenda. We have arranged to bring a large number of party workers to the event. MPs have already held meetings in their respective constituencies and kiosk level meetings have also taken place. The BJP has already booked 1,461 buses and more than 200 temporary travelers to bring party workers to the scene. Since the program will start at 1 p.m., taking into account security and other measures, party workers have been asked to arrive at the venue before 11:30 a.m.
“As the district administration has already decided to provide refreshments, the party will provide food to the participants in their vehicles after the program. In addition, the district administration has planned to bring more than 70,000 beneficiaries, who enjoyed various benefits from the central government scheme, for the program, he said.“It will be a mega event with more than two lakh people,” Sudharshan said.
He added: “Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Prahlad Joshi, Union State Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje and other State Ministers V Sunil Kumar, Kota Srinivasa Poojary, S. Angara, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will be among those who will attend the program.
He has held booth level meetings in the eight assembly segments in Dakshina Kannada to invite party workers to the program, and about 80% of the preparations for the program have been completed.”
During this time, the BJP hoisted its flags at several places in the city, notably on the median of National Road 66 to welcome the Prime Minister. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has cleared the highway by removing grass from the medians and sides as the program venue abuts the Kasaragod-Udupi NH 66. The potholes on the highway have been filled. Intense preparations are underway at the site to erect the pandal and arrange seating for participants. Wild grass has been cut, garbage cleaned up, etc. before the visit of the PM.
